Hustle over talent

Have you ever listened to an album and said to yourself  "My friend can sing better than that."? Have you ever listened to a song that isn't good in your opinion yet won a Grammy?  The reason is HUSTLE! Any goal / achievement you want, you will need to push and work rapidly towards. If you don't, someone else will. You can't lean on your natural abilities to reach your goal.

Dictionary.com defines hustle as to push or force one's way. Another definition is to proceed or work rapidly or energetically.

Talent is defined as a special natural ability or aptitude

There are many talented artist, singers, musicians, mechanics, and chefs but what makes one artist stand out from another? What makes you more attractive to your client. What makes your client want to do business with you versus your competitor? I would argue your Hustle and Ambition is the difference.

So, get out there and make it happen and if you need a graphic artist/ creative partner to spread your message please contact me.
I will hustle my talent for your business.

Book Cover Design Process

12/3/2012

Today I would like to share with you my process of  Designing a Book Cover. I had the privileged to design a book cover for Annie Lee commissioned by Manifold Grace Publishing House. The title of the book is "The Interview: A Divine Meeting with God". It parallels the process of a job interview and interviewing for destiny with God.

I was given a few ideas from the creative brief: "i was thinking about man and a woman standing in front of a huge door - we see them from the back, she wearing a skirt suit, him a suit and the door is the height of the book cover..."

I ran with this idea and produced three different book covers.

Happy New Years to you all. I hope that you have started this year off on the right foot. I am writing to inform you of some changes happening at www.creativelogoart.com
If you browse through the website, you will notice some changes.
1.) A new header reflecting the new logo.
2.) Fewer pages/ tabs
3.) Fewer logo packages
4.) Fewer services rendered, well at least on the website. Creative logo art will still do flyers business cards and websites but the focus will be logos and t-shirt printing.
5.) The website needed more focus to make the website easier for you to navigate. Please leave a comment letting us know if it is easier to navigate or if it is confusing.

In the near future the logo store will have a few changes that will be more cost effective for you to establish your logo.

What file formats should I recieve?

In my graphic design group from linked in, the question was posed. What file formats do we as graphic designers give to the clients?

Ultimately its what ever the client request but I keep the original art work for future changes. As outlined on my site the client usually recieves the .eps file, jpg, and tiff. The client at any point can request a different format to be delivered.

I believe the most important piece is to communicate what the client will recieve. Please check out what other graphic designers do by clicking on this link. Link to discussion board  If you are a designer please let me know what do you normally provide your clients with?

Creating Smart Objects In Photoshop CS3

In this flyer I hand crafted each particle which cost me a bit of time. Afterwards I decided to add a glow effect. That decision could cost me another 30 minutes adding it to each individual particle. Therefore I grouped them all together and made them a smart object.

Making a smart object allowed me to apply my layer effects to a group of layers. This allowed me to finish faster.

I hope this tutorial below will help you in your designing. Please view the video and don't forget to share this with your other creative friends too. lol

Key ideas to remember:
On PCs;
Grouping multiple items = ctrl + G
Creating smart objects of that grouping = right click the mouse on that layer group and select smart objects.
